Mitsubishi Diamond Series WD-82838 82-Inch 3D DLP HDTV
A great TV at the great price. All of us paid $2399.00, via Paul’s TV. We purchased the #82838 and had been upgraded to the #82840 at no extra charge (I think the #38 has been out of stock/ discontinued). We ordered it just ahead of Christmas and it showed up about 7 days afterwards, which we thought was impressive, because of the holiday – Ca(?) to Ohio in one week! It was an easy build and its light weight too. My wife and I easily, even if nervously…, lifted it WD-82838 to the TV “stand”. We purchased (2) blk/ brwn Besta Jarga($99 ea.)TV stands from Ikea to put the TV on — both side by side w/o the particular included castors. This unit is successful and was suggested by a TV owner on another Amazon . com review. While it is not necessarily glossy, we think along with is a-okay, and we’re generally picky types… I like it far better(looks & feature smart) than the Tech Build stand that Mitsubishi will be pushing, plus the prices are good. I’m sure there is something nicer out there in case you look…FYI, the Mit TV created in/on ’stand’ is for stabilizing just.
We have not done any kind of fancy or challenging set up or calibration nevertheless. I’ll update, when we do. Out of the box, the photo is good, but I think I can tweek the color a number of and there is a sound callibration that’s recommended…There is an mic, included, that is used for this purpose. I haven’t read about, or perhaps used it yet * will update. Your 16 built-in speakers seem good, although we will probably end up joining our surround sound someday. Our sub woofer is hooked up directly to it, so this helps that sound better. I would not see how “Immersive Sound” will ever replace rear speakers…
So far my only problem would be the lack of net apps – Absolutely no NETFLIX. This is over and above ridiculous, but it is how it’s, so the wireless Hardware adapter we bought was a total spend of money – that will stinks. Maybe it will get used for any firmware update some day? My advice, save your income, unless you like Vudu for reasons uknown…At present, we employ our PS3 with regard to Netflix but we’re buying the Roku 2 XD. It’s ashame and “BS” that our fresh, expensive high tech Television set is so lacking in your apps, but at this time, whats another $80.00… Another complaint is usually that the Mitsubishi remote is not backlit * silly, very silly…The remote’s buttons & characteristics are laid out properly though. Oh, btw, the ipod remote iphone app is cool, yet redundant and excessive. We have this application on an ipad… “Cute” would be a better description for the iod app (IMO) but I’m one of those folks that is yet to comprehend the ipod/ipad app fascination that will sooo many people appear to have……
So far, it seems like our Kinnect camera works great on top of the TV(peak wise).
Beyond that, this is one daylights of a TV along with a bargain! We purchased a 5 yr. guarantee through Paul’s TV regarding $249 and it included a pleasant surge protector. It is better than what we acquired on our outdated 72″ Mit and I considered they said this spike protector retailed with regard to 70 bucks. At any rate, we have peace of mind for 5 years. Our old Mitsubishi, a 1999 model(?)we bought (employed) 10 years ago, nonetheless works fine : but it’s a dinosaur compared to the new Hi-def 82″!!! No comparison.
